The countries that encircle the Mediterranean Sea have, over the centuries, shaped what we now call the Mediterranean Diet. Through what geographical and historical pathways did this way of eating come to be associated with good health and longevity, without ever sacrificing flavor? This is the fascinating journey that Jean-Michel Pradal invites you to explore.

Join us on Zoom for the Fall 2026 Immersion Day, on Saturday, October 31^st, 2026 to discover how the technological achievements and military conquests of the Roman Empire, the Silk Roads, the Age of Exploration, and other pivotal historical developments contributed to the emergence of a rich and culturally blended culinary tradition. Traditional recipes will also be shared, allowing you to continue this culinary journey long after the Zoom session has ended.

Our Speaker:

Originally from the city of Toulouse, Jean-Michel Pradal studied finance and management there and built his professional career in those fields. He is the father of three children and grandfather of six grandchildren. Outside of his professional life, he pursues two enduring passions: cooking and music. In the coming years, Jean-Michel plans to resume his studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris to train as a teacher of French as a Foreign Language (FLE).

Theme: The historical origins of the traditional Mediterranean diet. Our members have expressed an interest in alternating in-person and on zoom Immersion Days.
