Looking for a free and accessible way to improve your French in Hawaiʻi? AFH members can access a treasure trove for French speakers and learners: Culturethèque, a digital library created by the Institut français that provides a wide range of French cultural resources. The platform is designed to cater to both native French speakers and those learning the language, offering an extensive collection of digital resources that include books, magazines, music, videos, and more.
Language learners can find a plethora of resources tailored to different proficiency levels. From children's books to advanced literature, there is something for everyone. Some favorite offerings on Culturethèque include up-to-date magazines, newspapers and podcasts which provide an authentic perspective on current happenings and events au monde francophone. Whether you are newly learning French (A1, A2) or wish to enhance your fluency (C1, C2), you can click on the La salle de classe tab for media tailored to your particular language level.
To access Culturethèque, visit culturetheque.com to create a new account. Follow the instructions (available in French or English) to provide your details, including your membership status with Alliance Française Hawaiʻi. After registering, you will receive an email with a link to activate your account. Click on the link to complete the activation process and complete your profile. Your initial registration will be valid for 30 days as a trial. Once you’ve successfully registered, email our AFH Culturethèque administrator at: culturethequeafh@gmail.com as soon as possible so we can extend your access privilege to correspond with your chapter membership.
