the size of the heart that gives it."

DONATION

The Hawaii chapter of the Alliance Française (AFH) is a relatively small but very active non-profit organization exclusively for cultural purposes. Apart from special gatherings and fundraising activities, AFH actively encourages and funds scholarships and programs to enable students and teachers from Hawaii to study in France or French-speaking countries.

AF Hawaii is an all volunteer organization. Our directors and officers serve without pay. Your donations are what help this organization going, and we appreciate each and every one of them.

If you would like to help support Alliance Française of Hawaii, please choose one of the Donation options. You will be able to donate to multiple funds on the next form.

MARGE YOSHIOKA

TEACHER SUPPORT FUND

Marge Yoshioka was a true inspirational leader for all things French, as a teacher and as a Francophone/Francophile.  She retired as a dedicated and passionate French teacher from Kalani High School who inspired students, learning not only the French language but also deeply appreciating French culture providing an insider’s perspective on French worldviews and norms, and ways of thinking that bring French culture meaningful to students.

This fund provides support to French teachers for training.

CULTURE & EVENTS FUND

Provides funding for AFH to promote French and Francophone culture with special events, visits etc. for our members and the community at large.

SIEGFRIED RAMLER FUND

Siegfried Ramler helped found the AFH in 1961 and was famously known for his work as an interpreter in the Nuremberg Trials. His experience in the war and at Nuremberg left Siegfried with an enduring commitment to global cooperation. He spent 40 years at Punahou School, where he taught languages and literature, served as the Director of Instructional Services, and founded the Wo International Center. After retiring he was an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the East-West Center.

This fund provides necessary funding for training of our volunteer board members by attending national workshops for exposure to other Alliance Françaises.  Previous training has resulted in cost-saving measures and new ideas for better operations of our organization.
