Students and Teachers Scholarships for 2024 - 2025
A cornerstone of the mission of the Alliance Française of Hawai’i is “to encourage and further the knowledge of French culture and language.” As a result, from its inception, our organization has offered scholarships to teachers and students so they may further their knowledge of the language and culture through classes locally, nationally or in a French-speaking country.
Applications for the current scholarship travel and study grants are available online from September 1st and must be submitted no later than March 15th. The Scholarship Committee composed of teachers from all levels of French (grades 10 - 20+) selects the worthiest applicants in early April.
High School Students (Gr. 10-12) currently enrolled in French language classes who want to pursue an accredited course outside of their school curriculum or study abroad in France or in a French-speaking country with an accredited program may apply for support. Students who are current members of Alliance Française of Hawai’i are given preference. |
University Students currently enrolled in community college or university French studies classes who want to pursue an accredited course outside their school curriculum or study abroad in France or in a French-speaking country may apply for support. Graduate students who want to present a paper at or attend a French language conference are also encouraged to apply for grant support. Students who are current Alliance Française of Hawai'i members are given preference. |
Teachers Teachers who want to attend a French language conference or perfect their language or cultural knowledge by enrolling in an accredited program in the U.S., France or in a French-speaking country are encouraged to apply for grant support. Public school teachers may also apply for reimbursement of membership dues to Alliance Francaise of Hawai'i and American Association of Teachers of French (AATF)-Hawai’i Chapter. Local Grants Teachers (Gr. K-12) may apply for local grant support for prizes for medalists who participate in the Grand Concours (French National Contest) sponsored by AATF. Teachers (Gr. Previous grant awards have varied from $100 - $400. Teachers who are members of Alliance Française of Hawai’i and American Association of Teachers of French (AATF)-Hawai’i Chapter are given preference. |
